Managing Dry Skin

The body loses about 600ml (1 pint) od water a day by evaporation through the skin, and if moisture is lost faster than it can be replaced by underlying tissue, the outer layer becomes dry. Production of sebum, a natural oil, is minimal and pores are almost invisible, so the plus point is that dry skin is less susceptible to breakouts. The downside is that dry skin tends to show signs of ageing and can be flacky.

SOS TIPS
  • Drink at least eight glasses of water a day
  • Use skin care products with high water content
  • Wear a protective moisturizer as a barrier against water loss
MAKEUP TIPS
  • Makeup sits on the surface of dry skin, so mosturize well and use oil serum under foundation
  • A light moisturizing liquid foundation will work better for you than creme or stick foundations
  • Oil based products glide on easily, powder products sit n creases and draw attention to fine lines and flacky patches
  • Creme blush id preferable to powder blush for the same reason
